One of the television’s young stars, Lee Michael Norris is better known to his fans for his long-standing role as Marvin “Mouth” McFadden on the hit drama series One Tree Hill. His quirky and charming character, memorable quotes and somewhat unlucky streak with girls have forever earned him a spot in the hearts of the series’ fans. His bumbling antics to keep up with women, and yet, be able to keep such a deep and emotional character was a testament to Norris’ great acting ability.
A North Carolina native, he was born and raised in this beautiful state. From elementary to college, Norris stayed in North Carolina even as his acting career took off. For those who have not followed Norris’ career before his role on “One Tree Hill”, Norris starred in many other television series. His first appearance on television came on the set of The Torkelsons, where he played the son Chuckie Lee Torkelson for 20 episodes. Because of the success of the series, he came back in the same role for the series sequel, Almost Home.
His first long-lasting part was being cast in the hit comedy series “Boy Meets World”, where he played Stuart Minkus, resident genius and nerd who was regularly picked upon by his cast mates on the show. Eventually, he was written out of the script as the show progressed, but reappeared in the graduation episode, stating that the reason why the cast never saw him was that they did not have classes in the same side of the hall. After that, his next long stay on a series came with One Tree Hill. On the first two seasons of One Tree Hill, Norris was more of a recurring character than a regular one, but as the third season was conceptualized, and producers realized the huge positive reception of Norris’ character, they eventually wrote him as a regular character into the script.
Norris has often appeared as cameos or extras in other series such as American Gothic, October Road and Dawson’s Creek. He even made a guest appearance of America’s Next Top Model. He even has movie experience, making an appearance on Zodiac, Surf School and Hope.
A very interesting trivia about Norris is one that seems to intertwine his personal life and his career. In one of the episodes of One Tree Hill, Norris holds a brochure to Wake Forest University, which is the university that Norris was attending at the time. Perhaps one of the reasons why Norris’ character, Mouth, is so popular is because audiences can often relate to his situation. Unlike the sometimes bizarre situations of his cast mates, Norris’ character would go through problems that any normal teenager does: heartbreak, peer pressure and a need to find himself.
As an actor, Lee Michael Norris, at the age of 28, has already made his mark and will be remembered as an iconic character in one of the longest running drama series aimed at a teen audience. His passion for his work, and his natural charm will carry him to even greater heights in his career.
